The Watts 50 GPD Five-Stage RO System includes five stages of treatment:
• Stage One -- Sediment Pre-Filtration: A five micron, melt blown polypropylene sediment filter traps dirt, sediment, rust and other particulate matter. Filter life is about 6-12 months (depending on use and water quality).
• Stage Two -- Carbon Pre-Filtration: A five micron carbon block filter is used to improve taste and odor and to remove chlorine and other organic chemicals that can have a negative effect on the RO membrane. Filter life is about 6-12 months (depending on use and water quality).
• Stage Three – Second Carbon Pre-Filtration: A second 5 micron carbon block filter is used to further improve taste and odor and to further remove chlorine and other organic chemicals that can have a negative effect on the RO membrane (this is especially important when the feed water has high chlorine levels). Filter life is about 6-12 months (depending on use and water quality).
• Stage Four -- 50 gpd RO Membrane Filtration: Semi-permeable thin film composite membrane will remove salts, minerals, metals, bacteria, viruses, cysts, and more so only high quality water is sent to the storage tank. Membrane life is about 24-30 months (depending on use and water quality).
• Stage Five -- Carbon Post-Filtration: A granular activated carbon cartridge provides the final polishing to further remove any unpleasant taste and odors. The result is great tasting drinking water. Filter life is about 12 months (depending on use and water quality).
Spare and replacement filter elements are available and may be ordered separately.
